October 16
On Monday evening, Lincoln Mayor Seth Goodman brought to the council his appointment for Mayor Pro Tem, Alderman Tracy Welch. The council voted 5-0-1 to approve the appointment. Welch abstained from the vote and Aldermen Ron Fleshman and Steve Parrott were absent for the evening.

The Lincoln Railers Volleyball Team hosted the 2019 Volley for the Cure versus Taylorville on Tuesday night.

October 19
Lincoln College’s MacKinnon School of Business recently hosted its first annual Taking Care of Business event geared to introducing area high school students to the various disciplines of business. During the workshop students experienced a series of hands-on interactive exercises often used in the business school’s course offerings. Areas highlighted included marketing, operations management, leadership and strategy. The sessions were led by Lincoln College’s business faculty.

On Friday morning Judge Bill Workman was joined in the third floor courtroom at the Logan County Courthouse by Bob and Judith Gordon. The trio gathered for a photo op with an Abraham Lincoln head donated to the Logan County Courthouse and Workman’s courtroom by the Gordons.

Members of the Logan County Tourism Bureau Board sit down to enjoy a meal provided last week by the Mount Pulaski Township Historical Society and Museum. The group was invited to hear all the restoration work that is ongoing in Mount Pulaski, in particular the continued preservation of the famous courthouse at the heart of town where Abraham Lincoln practiced.

On Thursday evening the Lincoln Park District hosted their annual Halloween FunFest. Hundreds came out for the event this year, many dressed in wild and wacky costumes. Children enjoyed going from booth to booth playing games and winning prizes.

October 27

On Thursday evening, Lincoln Youth Football League Director Wesley Fuchs recognized all the volunteers, plus two outstanding adults who work tirelessly to help lead and support the youth program. Annette Jones (right) was named the 2018 Volunteer of the Year and Sean Ferguson (left) was named the 2018 Coach of the Year. Fuchs presented the special designees with a plaque during the Thursday evening football practice, the last of the year.
