Lincoln Woman’s Club Wears RED, joined by DAR

GFWC Lincoln Woman’s Club recently met wearing RED to show that February is recognized as American Heart Health Month in the United States. This initiative aims to raise awareness about heart disease, the leading cause of death in this country. They were joined by several members of the Abraham Lincoln Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

This chapter of DAR was organized on January 1, 1896, and Lincoln Woman’s Club was organized on July 30, 1896. Our friends from DAR have joined us for our February meeting for many years. DAR was the first group to reach out to the newly formed woman’s club by inviting them to join them in a public celebration of George Washington’s Farewell Address on the seventeenth of September 1896. We all enjoyed a wonderful program given by Mr. Bill Thomas of Atlanta.
