2026 Easter Devotional

...and those who were His own did not receive Him

[March 30, 2026]

Over the years there have been many, many heinous acts of cruelty carried out. Hundreds of examples are at your fingertips. This is an excellent example opportunity for all of us to reflect upon the most heinous act of apostasy and rebellion against God ever.

The Jewish folks had wanted centuries for the coming of the promised and long-awaited Savior. And then when he finally came, and despite His teaching of divine truth, the offer of eternal life. His divine power over the demonic realm, the natural world, disease, and death they REJECTED Him.

In John 1:11 John writes: “and those who were His own did not receive Him.
I am confident you have heard and most likely read that Jesus’ earthly journey to the cross began thirty years earlier in a stable in Bethlehem near Jerusalem. He was born in the journey took Him along with Mary and Joseph, south into Egypt, for protection from Herod who wanted to murder Him. When that danger passed, He went north from Egypt into Galileo where the family home in Nazareth, and there His life paused for about 30 years.

But when the Son of God turned 30, His path took Him to the Jordan River, where He was baptized by John the Baptist and His public ministry began. Then after three years of ministry Jesus came to Jerusalem for the last week of His life.

In Luke 23:13 Luke opens this section of his gospel. It is Friday morning of that final week of His life. Jesus would be crucified later that afternoon, dead and buried before sundown. But, and however a couple of days later the two greatest words were spoken, “He’s Alive”. For us as believers that is the “Alleluia” chorus. He is ALIVE

Happy Easter!!!
