[February 18, 2025]    Sunday was a very cold day, and the perfect time to head to a great indoor event that featured a sweet spaghetti meal with luscious desserts while at the same time supporting one of the best youth programs in the county.

The annual 4-H Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser was taking place at the Lincoln Knights of Columbus. The meal was provided by Nuthatch Hill BBQ, and the Luckhart girls were in charge of serving up hot plates of spaghetti and meat sauce with large, soft breadsticks.

The day included several fundraising efforts including the traditional silent auction. Items were set up in tables in the middle of the hall and also lined the exterior wall of the room. There were plenty of items to bid on, all donated by local businesses as well as 4-H clubs and individuals.

Returning again this year was the pick a number and make a donation boards with cards decorated by various 4-H members. There were 100 cards with a dollar amount of $1 thru $100. Guests could pull a card off the board and make a donation to 4-H according to the number on the card.

New this year was a live dessert auction. Local businesses, bakeries, and some of Logan County’s excellent home cooks, donated items that were then auctioned off by Reagan Tibbs of the Logan County Extension Office with Sherri Bishop, 4-H overseer for the extension acting as his helper.

Pies, cakes, and French Macaroons were among the first items auctioned off starting shorting after noon. Right away, prices were going into the three-digit figures and the sweet treats.

Also taking place throughout the day was the recognition of the local clubs and their individual members. The clubs were introduced and then its membership. As the names were called the members lined up for a club photo, then the individuals were called onto the stage and recognized with plaques and certificates for their various achievements throughout this past year in 4-H.

The event, which is a free will donation only, was well attended with the tables filling early and remaining pretty full throughout the three hour period of the event.

The annual 4-H dinner is set close to valentines day, and is an excellent time for friends and family to literally break bread together while supporting a very worthy cause.
