Saturday, March 21, the Hartsburg
Founder’s Day Committee hosted breakfast with the Easter Bunny at
the Hartsburg American Legion Building.
Several members of the Founder’s
Day Committee prepared and served a delicious breakfast of pancakes
and sausage with coffee, water or orange juice.

As usual, two large tables had a
variety of baked goods available for sale such as cookies, cupcakes,
Chex mix and toffee mix. There was also a German chocolate
cheesecake.

At another table, kids and even
adults could get temporary Easter tattoos.

This year, the Easter bunny had two
helpers dressed in Easter Egg costumes. Many children enjoyed
sitting on the Easter bunny’s lap and getting a special treat bag.
One little girl decided to dance around with the Easter bunny, who
picked her up and spun her around a couple of times.

2026 is the 155th anniversary of
Hartsburg, so it is a special Founder’s day. Anniversary shirts are
being made for the occasion.

Hartsburg Mayor Darien Ritterbush
said the village also received some funds from a tourism grant that
will help them refurbish the old jail cell that sits behind the
Legion building. He said they plan to move the jail cell to main
street where it will be more visible.
With the return of warmer temperatures, it was a great day to enjoy
a delicious breakfast, see the Easter bunny and purchase baked goods
while helping raise funds for Founder’s Day.
