Atlanta Memorial Park District hosts annual Easter Egg Hunt

[April 06, 2026]

On Saturday, April 4, children gathered in their raincoats and boots to brave the cool spring drizzle to hunt for Easter eggs and prizes.

Families gathered at the pavilion at Atlanta Memorial Park just before 10:00 a.m. and waited for the kickoff of the hunt. Amy Naughton, President of Atlanta Memorial Park District’s board, welcomed the families, provided the rules for the hunt, and asked the crowd to share so that most children would receive a prize basket. Once Naughton gave the okay, the children were off to search for the eggs. The eggs contained tickets for prizes.

The prize Easter baskets contained an array of toys, including wiffle ball sets, catching mitts, kites, bounce balls, activity books, bubbles, and treats. There were also prizes like giant PEEPS and other stuffed animals. Every child received a brown bag full of candy and snacks. The prize baskets were set up on tables, and board members and volunteers assisted with handing out the prizes. Attendees ducked out of the cold weather to collect their winnings.

Naughton said the event “every year gets bigger every year.” She believes that this is the 10th year that the park district has hosted the hunt. During the Christmas season, they also organize the town’s angel tree program.
