ven with the rainy weather, many
kids came out to the annual Open Arms Easter Egg hunt. Since it was
so wet, the hunt was held inside the Laughlin Center gym.

Thousands of eggs were laid out in
separate sections for two different age groups with sections set out
for the younger children and the older children. Each age group was
released to find eggs at a different time.
Though the event took months of planning, setting out the eggs took
less than an hour and kids scrambled to fill their baskets with eggs
in just minutes.
As usual, countless volunteers were needed to fill the eggs with
candy. Several had slips of paper that could be turned in for
special prizes.

The families gathered around the
caution tape surrounding the areas where the eggs were set out and
anxiously waited for the Easter egg hunt to start.
Once children’s minister Lara O’Donoghue did a countdown for each
section, the caution tape was taken down and kids scrambled to get
as many eggs as possible in their basket.

Children and their parents then sat
and opened the eggs to find candy and see if there was paper showing
they had won a special prize.

The young hunters and gatherers
could then take the paper to table set up outside the Chapel to
redeem their prizes. Special prizes included full size candy bars,
$5 bills and a large Easter basket. In addition, one child in each
age group won a bicycle.
The Easter Bunny was there walking around greeting everyone
throughout the morning. Once the hunt was over, kids posed for
photos with him.
