Saturday evening was warm and humid
as Logan County residents gathered on the square in downtown Lincoln
for the Logan County Pride Festival. Pulaski Street was adorned with
rainbow flags as festival-goers celebrated Pride Month.

The first event of the evening was
the Facial Hair Contest. Several contestants showed off their real
and fake facial hair. There were two divisions of the contest, and
the winners were determined by audience applause. The winner of the
adult division was “Fast Pikachu,” with the lime-green mustache. The
winner of the child division was Rylee with a bright pink mustache
and matching rainbow-colored headband and lei. They both proudly
sported their new hardware.

The next event was the pet costume
contest. There were three contestants: Shorty, Sir Rexington, and
the “Pugonias”. The “Pugonias” were the champions. They were wearing
flower collars, and their wagon was decorated with bright flowers,
which they gave to those who stopped to pet the pugs. This contest
was also determined by the audience.

Down Pulaski Street and McLean
Street, the festival continued. There were vendors selling an array
of items like baked goods, crocheted items, hair accessories,
jewelry, and tie-dye clothing. There was also a tarot reader. Food
vendors included: The Daily Wrap, Loo’s Sugar Buzz LLC, Brain
Freezers, and The Buttery. There were also several sponsors on site
like the Logan County Democrats and Michelle Bauer of Country
Financial. There were also family-friendly activities including face
painting and bounce houses. Several non-profits were also set up,
each with information about their programs. Nichole Folkman with
Book Harts was there with free books for children and young adults
as well as other reading accessories.
Live music was provided throughout the evening by Rebekah Mangles
and The Handshakes and Silas Tockey. The evening ended with the
Pride Show on the main stage.
