On Friday evening, the downtown
square in Mt. Pulaski was a lively scene, with food, fun, and live
music. Food trucks, family activities, a live band, sales, and
vendors lined two sides of the square.

There were food trucks lining the
street. The trucks included the Warrensburg Taco Truck, Boomer’s
BBQ, The Daily Wrap, and Spiedie Wagon. Each truck offered its own
unique menu. There were also trucks with sweet treats and beverages:
We Three Sweets, Loo’s Sugar Buzz, and Mcluvin Made offered the
specialties. Citizens lined up to pick up their dinners from the
trucks.

Several family-friendly activities
were found on the square. The Mt. Pulaski Public Library sponsored a
rock painting station. The library provided grey rocks and paint,
and library staff assisted children in painting. There was a display
station set up for children to showcase their artwork and activities
at Market on the Hill. Vonderlieth provided bubbles, and Balloons by
Isaac provided balloon animals for children. Children watched in awe
as Isaac was clever and careful to make their favorite animal-shaped
balloon. There was also an inflatable bounce kingdom. Face painting
was provided by Deron Powell-State Farm.

Crafters offered an array of
crafts, from homemade barbecue sauce by Justin’s Jams. They were
sampling their strawberry habanero sauce. Other vendors
included: PT’z T-Shirts, Hats & More, Designs by Angi/The Pink
Peony, Roots& Relics, Just Breathe, Howe Home Made, You Are
Fashion, Colorful Creations by Donna, Lace & Hide, and Art
Castle Farms. These vendors offered fashion items, jewelry, and
home decor.
As citizens walked around or
relaxed at picnic tables in front of the stage, they could enjoy the
country and rock classics provided by Eric Vaughn Hagen.

There was a cruise-in featuring the
classic vehicles of the Railsplitter Antique Auto Club. The antique
vehicles ranged from vintage American vehicles to foreign-built
gems. They were lined up with Hayes Auto Supply as an appropriate
backdrop for the evening.
The 2nd Friday on the Square events
are held on the second Friday of each month from June to September.
The event was sponsored by Mt. Pulaski’s Economic Development and
Planning Board and Logan County Tourism Bureau.
