The biggest attraction of the day
was the arrival of the Big Boy train. Spectators lined both sides of
the railroad tracks to catch a glimpse as the massive locomotive
came through town. As it passed, the train acknowledged the crowd
with its distinctive horn, drawing cheers, applause, and excitement
from onlookers of all ages. The enthusiasm and sense of wonder
shared by the crowd made the Big Boy's appearance a memorable
highlight of an already outstanding day in Elkhart.
