Gail’s Pumpkin Patch in Beason
opened for the season this past weekend celebrating their 20th year.
Families came out to enjoy the beautiful weather and enjoy the end
of summer and the start of the fall season. As usual, Gail’s had
plenty of fun activities for families. They even added a new piece
of equipment this year that both kids and adults rode frequently.
Out front, Gail’s had their usual assortment of gourds, in addition
to an area for kids to dress a “scarecrow.” The height scale was in
its usual spot, and one family used it to measure the height of
their tiny baby. Inside was a large assortment of goods, from fall
decor and books to fresh picked apples and apple cider slushies.
People had the option of purchasing freshly popped popcorn too.
Around the main barn was a large
assortment of kids and family activities. Many returned from
previous years, but not all were in their usual spot. The goats were
in their usual spot near the apple trees, as was Brownie the rabbit.
The mini golf course was behind the shed Brownie was in and to the
right of the goats. Gail’s moved the adult tricycle course to
between the mini golf and the goats.
Corn hole made its return, as did the train pulled by the riding
mower. Two kids got in the train and were pulled back toward the
pumpkins before being dropped off next to Gail’s barn once more.
Kids swung on the various swings
and slid down the roller slide. One young man elected to ride down
on his stomach. The kiddie maze tunnels sat next to the roller
slide, with kids crawling in and out of them.

The Hillbilly Treadmill was the new
item this year. There was a small red and white barn, but inside
that barn was a short tunnel. The tunnel turned 360 degrees around,
reminiscent of a hamster wheel. Parents and kids got inside and
tried to ride the treadmill together. The treadmill was rarely
empty. Everyone on it seemed to be having a blast.
Of course, what would Gail’s
pumpkin patch be without pumpkins? Carts were set up just outside
Gail’s main barn with loppers to cut the pumpkins free. Not many
families were out in the field picking pumpkins just yet, but that
is likely to change as Halloween approaches.
Families had a lot of great fun this past weekend, and there is
still plenty to be had before the season is over. Gail’s is open
Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday from noon to 5:00 p.m. They are
open on Saturdays too from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
