Friday,
September 25, Castle Manor had a Fall Bash for residents, their
families and members of the community. The day’s activities began
with several games of Bingo for prizes.
Area businesses provided raffle
baskets with a variety of items. Each person could choose what
basket to put their tickets in and winners were drawn later in the
evening.
Volunteers from Decatur’s Scoville
Zoo brought a corn snake, rabbit, two bearded dragons, tenrec, box
turtle, bantam chicken, green frog, gecko and pelts. Some kids and
adults petted the rabbit and bearded dragons, but many were not so
sure about the snake.
Georgia Allison of Silver Fox
Fitness had a table with information about her classes plus lip
balm, hand lotion and stress balls. Once Bingo was done, she led
people in chair yoga moves.
Both kids and adults lined up to get henna tattoos or get their face
painted. Leigh Mo’s art had designs like pumpkins, spiders and so
much more.
LCHS Senior Grant Eales juggled balls and knives in addition to
riding a unicycle. Kids were fascinated watching Eales who said he
taught himself to juggle and went to eight years of summer camps led
by the Gamma Phi Circus.

The Route 66 barbershop
quartet, which had a tenor, lead tenor, baritone and bass,
provided musical entertainment. They started with the song “I
Get my kicks on Route 66” before singing several oldies.
Later in the afternoon, disk jockey CJ Jones played selected
songs.
Activities make people hungry, so
for a special fall snack, Cristine who works with Memorial Health’s
Senior Life Solutions, set up a caramel apple bar. Toppings for the
apples included M & M’s, crushed Oreos, crushed peanut butter cups,
crushed Snickers, nuts, coconut sprinkle, chocolate syrup and
caramel syrup. It was a popular treat judging from the lines.
The fall bash meal included grilled hotdogs, chili, nachos, potato
salad and pudding cups.
Though the on and off sprinkles caused them to move the event
indoors, there was still a good turnout providing fun for all who
came.
