Saturday Business Spotlight: Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home
[January 24, 2026] This
week the Saturday Business Spotlight features Holland, Barry & Bennett
Funeral Home, located at 620 Pulaski Street in Lincoln. The business is
owned by Christopher and Lesleigh Bennett.

Christopher and
Lesleigh are the only employees. Both are licensed funeral
directors/embalmers. Their daughter Peyton helps out when she is home
for college breaks. Their oldest child, son Christian, worked part-time
in the family business for several years before getting married and
moving to Missouri. A close family friend, Chuck “Paco” Taylor also
helps us when The Bennetts have large services.
Bennett Funeral Home opened its doors on April 24, 2004. This April will
mark 22 years.

In 2005,
Christopher and Lesleigh Bennett purchased Holland and Barry Funeral
Home at 325 Pekin Street in Lincoln. They chose the Pulaski Street
location for a couple of reasons: it was centrally located downtown
Lincoln, and it was an existing building that had become an eye sore in
the downtown area. “We really wanted to take the building that had been
in disrepair for several years, since a fire damaged the back half of
the building, and make it into something. The building holds a lot of
history; it was originally built in the 1940’s,” said Lesleigh.

Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home is a family-owned full-service
funeral home. They serve all faiths and provide funeral, burial,
memorial, cremation, and pre-planning services.

Lesleigh noted.
“We decided to combine the names, keeping a long-standing Logan County
Tradition. After two years of operating the business from both
locations, we made the decision to operate solely out of the new
location on Pulaski Street.” She went on to explain that the new
facility was all on one level and fully ADA (American with Disabilities
Act) accessible. It also allowed a more spacious viewing room as well as
additional lounge and gathering areas for families.
Christopher and
Lesleigh both chose the funeral profession because they wanted to
provide comfort, compassion, and expertise at a time when many people
don’t know where to turn. Christopher was born and raised in Lincoln and
wanted to come back home to raise family and run his business.
“We love being able to help people at some of the toughest times in
their lives. The trust that families place in us means everything to us
and we strive every day to create meaningful celebrations of lives well
lived. Lincoln is our home, the place that we raised three children:
Christian, Kacey, and Peyton. Thank you, Lincoln, and logan County for
supporting our dream, our family, and for allowing us to serve you for
over 20 years.” Said the Bennetts.
Lesleigh concluded, “I have been a CEO mentor and supporter for more
than 10 years and I tell all of the students: Follow your
entrepreneurial dreams. Opening a business is pretty simple, but
building a business, a following, something lasting, is the hard part.
Being a business owner takes sacrifice, but it is so rewarding.”
