Substance Use Prevention Coalition meets to plan free community
resources
[July 10, 2026]
The Substance Use Prevention Coalition met at Lincoln Memorial
Hospital on Thursday, July 9 to discuss updates from partner
organizations and developments in prevention and education plans. The
SUPC exists to promote awareness of substance use disorder, prevent
youth substance use, and improve access to resources.
The first item on the agenda was to review free training and educational
materials for educators and others that work with youth that were
compiled at the June meeting. Members suggested additions to the list of
resources. Chestnut Health Systems will contact area schools with
resource links by email.
Prevention specialists found a Hidden in Plain Sight trailer available
for rent. The National Guard also has a Hidden Threat trailer available
for applications to rent. The purpose of these is to educate parents and
guardians in an immersive situation about common ways and places that
youth hide substances.
The group discussed hosting a community drug take-back day. Nationally,
there are drug take-back days in April and October every year. The Logan
County Department of Public Health accepts expired drugs and syringes
year round. Members discussed hosting a vendor table with resources at
the Logan County Fair.

Tall Cop is scheduled to present in Lincoln on July 30, 2027 at Lincoln
Community High School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. He will do an environmental
scan of Logan County and present his findings of the availability of
youth access to substances. Participants will need to register and lunch
will be provided. A minimum of 50 people must attend. Tall Cop is a
popular speaker and has podcasts and social media presence.
Youth prevention specialists are designing anti-vaping posters for
schools, and information cards for parents are being planned for the new
school year.
