Getting your flu shot at the Health Department is like “shopping local”
for your health
[October 29, 2025]
As flu season approaches, the Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH)
is reminding everyone that getting a flu shot is one of the best ways to
protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community. This year, LCDPH
encourages residents to “shop local” when it comes to their health — by
getting their flu shot right here at the local health department.
“When you get your flu shot at the health department, you’re doing more
than protecting yourself from illness,” said Kara Davis, Director of
Nursing at the Logan County Department of Public Health. “You’re
supporting a trusted local resource that’s dedicated to keeping our
community healthy year-round.”
Just like shopping at a local business keeps money in the community,
getting your vaccines at the health department helps strengthen local
public health efforts. The fees collected from immunizations are
reinvested into vital community programs — from disease prevention and
maternal health services to emergency preparedness and wellness
education.

Flu vaccines are recommended for everyone six months and older.
Vaccination not only reduces your chances of getting sick but also helps
protect those who are more vulnerable, including infants, older adults,
and people with chronic health conditions.
LCDPH offers flu shots and other recommended vaccines for people of all
ages. No appointments are needed, and most insurance plans are accepted.
“Your local health department is here for you,” said Kara Davis. “When
you come to us for your vaccines, you’re investing in your own health —
and in the health of your entire community.”
The LCDPH clinic is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 am-3:45 pm. If you have
questions regarding the flu vaccine or any vaccines, please call LCDPH
at 217-735-2317. For additional information regarding health department
services, log onto the LCDPH website at
