- Walter James “Walt” Ellegood Jr., 78, of Lincoln, IL, passed away
on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital.

Walter James “Walt”
Ellegood Jr., 78, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on
Sunday, February 1, 2026, at HSHS St. John’s
Hospital.
Walt was born April 15, 1947, in Lincoln, the son of
Walter and Pauline (Sparks) Ellegood Sr. He married
Pamela Correll in Lincoln in 1970. She survives.
Walt is also survived by his children, Lora (Justin)
Chrusciel-Brown, Stephanie, David, Katie, Luka, and
Layne Ellegood; grandchildren, Abby, Dakin, Ian,
Connor, Quinn, Lauren, Nora, Avery, Talan, Cade,
Ainsley, and Anthony; and great-grandchildren,
Blaze, Kaylan, and Vayda. He is also survived by his
brothers, Roy, Bob, and Greg Ellegood; and sister,
Sharon Merriman.

He was preceded in
death by his parents and a sister, Cheryl Gaffigan.
Walt proudly served his country in the US Army. He
enjoyed watching Illini games and going fishing.
Cremation rites have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
