Obituary
Norma Jean Chere, 85,
of Lincoln passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026
at HSHS Saint John's Hospital in Springfield.
Private family services will be held. Cremation
rites have been accorded.
Norma Jean Chere was born on December 17, 1940 in
Middletown the daughter of Norman Russell Chere and
Margaret Louise Scholties Chere.
She is survived by two nieces: Kimberly (William)
Frizzell and Kelly (Chris) Jones. Great nieces and
nephews: Kaitlyn (Scott) Flora, Kendall Frizzell,
Kinsey Frizzell, Blake Jones and Luke Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one
brother: Dan Chere, two sisters: Kaye Chere and Myra
Chere.
Norma graduated from the Lincoln Community High
School in 1958 and the St. John's School of Nursing
in 1961. She was employed at the Lincoln Development
Center and Logan Correctional Center for many years.

Her hobbies included
anything in nature : (dogs, cats, birds, flowers and
gardening),reading and putting puzzles together.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Logan
County.
