- Jeanette Behrends, 90, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Thursday,
February 26, 2026, at Mason City Area Nursing Home.

Service:
A private family graveside service for Jeanette will
be held at Hartsburg Union Cemetery in the summer.

Obituary
Jeanette Behrends, 90,
of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Thursday, February
26, 2026, at Mason City Area Nursing Home.
Jeanette was born January 2, 1936, in Lincoln, IL,
the daughter of Donald “Oscar” and Minnie (Kodatt)
Funk. Jeanette married Robert “Bud” Behrends in 1956
they had one daughter, Lynnette. Jeanette and Bud
divorced in 1981, and he passed away in 1994.
Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Lynnette
(Michael) Bruce of Lincoln, IL; twin grandsons,
Christopher (Gabriele) Bruce of East Troy, WI and
Robert Bruce of Providence, RI. In 2022 Jeanette was
blessed with a great-granddaughter, Gillian Jean
Bruce, the daughter of Christopher and Gabriele. She
is also survived by her sister Marian “Mickey” Hobbs
of Lincoln, IL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her
brother, Donald “Pete” Funk.
Jeanette graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954,
she began her employment at Lincoln State School,
later known as Lincoln Developmental Center in the
Activity Department; she retired as a supervisor in
1991. |
Jeanette loved life;
she was able to retire early and travel the world.
Jeanette was a friend to many and enjoyed life, her
hearty laugh lifted many spirits during her
lifetime.
Special thanks to the
Hobb’s family for their help and support, and her
friend and caretaker, Charlotte Jones. Jeanette will
be missed by all who knew her.
A private family graveside service for Jeanette will
be held at Hartsburg Union Cemetery in the summer.
Memorials may be made in Jeanette’s name to The
Oasis Senior Center. Arrangements have been
entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
