Obituary
Larry W. Bowles, 77,
of Mt. Pulaski, passed away on February 26, 2026, at
Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Larry was born on September 9, 1948, in Lincoln,
IL., the son of Weldon “Willie” and Lois (Deibert)
Bowles. He married Sandra L. (Holland) Havener on
February 25, 1978, in Las Vegas, NV. She survives.
Larry is also survived by his daughter, Shaunda
(Chad) Clark; two grandchildren, Tucker Clark and
Bailey Clark; brother, Randy (Deborah) Bowles;
sister, Janet (David) Naugle; sister in-law, Gloria
Bowles; his uncle, Darold Deibert; along with many
nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews,
including his niece and Goddaughter, Haley (Bowles)
Koch.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one
brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Bowles.
Larry graduated from Mt. Pulaski High School in
1966. He was then drafted into the United States
Army where he served in the Vietnam War. Larry
worked for Caterpillar in Decatur where he retired
after nearly 35 years. He was a member of Mt.
Pulaski Christian Church. Larry enjoyed sports,
whether playing in his earlier days or watching in
recent years. He always enjoyed golfing with his
friends and family. |

Most of all, Larry
loved his family, especially attending his grandkids
activities. He and Sandy were known to drive over
four hours to Iowa to see a game or attend a dance
recital.
Funeral Services for
Larry will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March
4, 2026, at Mt. Pulaski Christian Church. Visitation
will take place on Tuesday evening, March 3, from
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, also at the church. Burial will
follow the service on Wednesday at Steenbergen
Cemetery where Military Honors will be rendered.
Memorials may be made in Larry’s memory to the Mt.
Pulaski Christian Church. Arrangements have been
entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mt. Pulaski.
