Obituary
Kathy J. Diamond was a
woman of precise standards and a soft heart. At 66,
Kathy passed away at her home in Lincoln on
Wednesday, March 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy
of resilience, family devotion, quick wit, and a
sharp eye for the beauty in the details.
Born in Alton, Illinois, on November 16th, 1959 to
Byron and Mildred Fry, Kathy was raised with the
values of the Catholic faith—a foundation that
stayed with her throughout her life. A 1978 graduate
of Lincoln Community High School, she was a fixture
of the community she called home for decades.
In 1983, she began a 35-year journey of marriage
with Brian D. Diamond. Though Brian preceded her in
death in 2018, the family they built together
remained her greatest pride. Kathy faced the loss of
her parents and six of her siblings with a quiet
strength that she passed down to her own sons.
Kathy’s career as a florist at Flowers by Tibbs & as
a Quality Control Inspector at Precision Products
were more than just jobs: it was a reflection of her
character. She believed in doing things right.
But when the workday ended, Kathy knew how to find
balance: Some of her happiest hours were spent
fishing, where the world slowed down and the only
thing that mattered was the tug on the line. She
enjoyed spending time at racing speedways throughout
the region.
Kathy was also a dedicated hockey fan of the Tampa
Bay Lightning, where she cheered them both on and
off the ice. She was a proud supporter of Hockey
Fights Cancer.

Kathy’s memory will be
carried forward by those who knew her best: her
sons, Jason (Kevin Valera) Harlow and Nathan (Roz
Phillips) Diamond; her cherished grandchildren,
Olivia, Hunter (Griffin) and Logan Diamond; her
great-grandson, Dean Micheal Urbanski, and her very
close friend Larry Riggs who compassionately stood
by her side throughout her battle.
She joins her beloved Brian, her parents, her sister
Ann Mardis, and her brothers Michael, Pat, Ray,
Mark, and Jay Fry in eternal rest.
Friends and family are invited to honor Kathy’s
memory on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Peasley Funeral
Home in Lincoln. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m.
until the commencement of her memorial service at
1:30 p.m., officiated by Mr. Ryan Edgecombe. She
will be laid to rest at Holy Cross cemetery in
Lincoln.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be
directed to the family to help navigate medical and
funeral expenses.
Kathy's family would like to thank her medical team,
friends, and everyone else who stood by her during
her brave fight with cancer. Your love and
compassion will not be forgotten.
