Obituary
Sonja was born on
April 30, 1978, in Newton, Illinois, the daughter of
Jeff and Wanda (Hartleroad) Fehrenbacher.
She married Heather Heinzel on March 21, 2013, in
Lincoln. She survives.
Sonja is also survived by her children, Presleigh
Fehrenbacher, Izaiah, Zander, and Elyjah Heinzel;
her father, Jeff Fehrenbacher; her sister, Lindsay
(Scott) Burton; and her nephew, Gavin Fehrenbacher.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda.
Sonja loved her kids more than anything and took
great pride in being their mom. She had a deep
passion for music and loved attending concerts
whenever she could. Known for her quick wit, Sonja
could tell a cheesy dad joke like no other and loved
making people laugh. She was also a devoted fan of
Ohio State football.
Anyone who knew Sonja knew how much she loved
animals of all kinds and that she could never have
enough of them around. Simple things brought a smile
to her face. Wal-Mart sugar cookies, Reese’s with
Pieces, and talking about her first car, a canary
yellow VW Beetle were just a few of her favorites. |
She will be deeply
missed by all who knew her. She was loved more than
she ever knew and leaves behind countless memories
that will continue to bring smiles to those who
shared in her life.
A memorial gathering for Sonja will be held from
4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made in Sonja’s memory to Ruby’s
Rescue & Retreat, INC in McLean.
