Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Steenbergen Cemetery in
Mt. Pulaski, IL.

Obituary
Ronald Merold, 82, of
Chatham, formerly of Mt. Pulaski, IL, passed away on
March 14, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Ronald was born on August 25, 1943, in Lincoln, IL,
the son of Glenn & Edna (Leesman) Merold. He married
Loretta Goodman on June 28, 1963. She survives.
Ronald is also survived by his children, Ronnie
(Denise) Merold, Ronda (Daniel) Browning, and Becky
(Brett) Luzinski; grandchildren, Brittany (Justin
Watts) Merold, Joel (Julia) Bailey, Brandon (Nika)
Bailey, Brooke Merold, and Alyssa (Nick) Watson;
great-grandchildren, Raegan, Rowan, and Ridge Watts,
Huck and Bray Watson, and Harlow Roberts; as well as
several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his
sister, Donna.
Ronald was a graduate of Lincoln Community High
School Class of 1961. He worked for Caterpillar for
thirty-one years, retiring when he was fifty-four.
Ronald was a Deacon and Elder at Mt. Pulaski
Christian Church. Sports were a big part of Ronald’s
life, he enjoyed softball, bowling, and watching his
beloved St. Louis Cardinals. When he wasn’t watching
or playing sports, he liked to garden, text his
friends and family, and in his later years
reconnected with friends on Facebook. |

Ronald never missed a
sporting event for his kids; he was always
videotaping events and special get-togethers. The
grandkids and great-grandkids were always top
priority. If they came and stayed, Ronald always had
special things for them to do together. There were
many trips to Walmart and DG. He loved his family
dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on
Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Steenbergen Cemetery in
Mt. Pulaski, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made in Ronald’s name to Mt.
Pulaski Christian Church in Mt. Pulaski, IL.
Services have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski.
