Obituary

Susan Adele Walters, 75 years of age, passed away peacefully on Friday November 21st, 2025 in Port Charlotte, Florida - surrounded by her loving family.

Susan was born April 24, 1950 in Lincoln, Illinois to the late Fletcher and Herma (Sahs) Taft. She was the youngest of seven siblings - sister Nancy (Jim) Ireland, brothers Bob (Kay) and Don (late sister in-law Barb) Bauer, late brother Bill Taft, late sister Sandy (Tom) Carroll, late sister Diane Bunson, along with her many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Susan’s loving memory is cherished by husband of 50yrs Steven (Sal) Walters; son Adam Walters, granddaughter Kalieana Walters, grandson Gage Walters; son Erik Walters, grandson Colton Walters, granddaughter Hayden Walters; son Jason (wife Michele) Gehlbach, granddaughter Josephine Gehlbach, and granddaughter Jessica Gehlbach.

At an early age, Susan professed her faith in God, and shared the gospel with her children and grandchildren.

She was known to express her love for family, friends, an affinity for the change of seasons, earth’s beauty, the heavens, gardening, flowers, spring trees and birds - especially her owls. Susan very much enjoyed seeing the world through the windshield of Sal’s motorcycle, and she passed idle time re-watching episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, reciting each character’s lines from memory.

Susan was a selfless and dedicated wife, mother, and “granny”. She chose to continue working through retirement for the joy of caring for family, interacting with co-workers, and sharing her kind spirit with the many people she met. She believed that “Every person has a story and a purpose”, and like so many moms - she truly made the magic.
