Michael A.
Moriearty, 86, of Lincoln, passed away May 12, 2026
at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded by
Holland Barry & Bennett funeral Home. A celebration
of life will be held at a later date.
Michael was born May 8, 1940, in Lincoln, IL., the
son of James and Lucille (Carson) Moriearty. He
married Jeri (Leslie) on May 16, 1965. She preceded
him in death on April 1, 2016. He proudly served his
country in the United States Army. He enjoyed his
children, grand & great grandchildren. He enjoyed
knife making, scrimshaw, playing his guitars, his
dog and the outdoors. He worked at PPG for many
years and then at the state park & pheasant hatchery
where he retired from.
Survivors include his children Doug (Kandy)
Moriearty and Shelly (Paul) Scheurer; grandchildren:
Jess (Dan) Benedict, Ryan (Lauren) Moriearty, Nate
(Morgan) Brandt, and Nolan Moriearty; great
grandchildren: Adi, Ella, and Brinley. He is also
survived by his beloved canine companion Penny.

He was preceded in
death by his parents, his wife Jeri, and 10 siblings
and their spouses. He was the last of his immediate
family.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's
Children's Research Center.
