Obituary
Rebecca Boline of
Towanda, Illinois, creator and owner of Boline’s
Quilt Fabric Warehouse, passed away May 21, 2026.
She had a long fight with Lewy Body Dementia.
Becky was born in Selma, Alabama. Her father, E.
Wayne Bock and mother, Billie Haynes Bock were
living in Selma as he finished his service in the US
army air corps.
The family then settled on the Bock family farm near
Elkhart, Illinois. Wayne and Billie had a
diversified farm of crops, animals and a large
garden. In 1951, brother Roger was added and then
brother Gerald came in 1954.
Becky attended Elkhart grade and high school. She
was valedictorian of her eighth grade and senior
classes. She attended the University of Illinois
where she majored in math and minored in physics and
chemistry. Becky graduated with academic honors. She
received a master’s of school administration and
then took a multitude of computer science classes.
After graduating, she did a couple years as a
stewardess for United Airlines. Primarily flying out
of Chicago to European cities. A position as a math
teacher opened at Lincoln high school and she was
hired. She worked her way up to the head of the math
department. After about 20 years of teaching, she
decided to go to work for State Farm Insurance. Her
scope of work was writing software and education
products for the company.
As she grew older,
she started to form what her “retirement“ life would
be like. It had to be fun, involve travel and make
money. She has always liked quilting and selling
quilts. Boline’s Quilt Fabric became her new
business. While still at State Farm, she traveled to
quilt shows in the central part of the US, selling
her fabric and quilt kits. |

After Becky retired
from State Farm, she concentrated on growing her
Quilt Fabric business. Becky’s large building with
customer parking lot was located south of the
Bloomington airport control tower. It flourished
with quilting comrades. Making quilts, serving
quilters and selling fabric was her passion. Most
people will consider her business a full-time job,
not Becky. Becky would not entertain closing the
shop, even as her health failed.
Becky loved to take vacations. Her destinations
included Europe, South America, Hawaii, Australia,
Iceland, and Alaska. She tried twice to go to
Antarctica, but the weather did not cooperate, and
she was unable to reach her destination. Becky was a
cat and dog person. Her heart was broken many times
over the years as they passed away. I hope they are
at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for her.
She was proceeded in death by her mother and father.
She is survived by her brothers, Roger, wife Deb,
and Gerald, wife Jean. She is laid to rest next to
her paternal grandmother.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Donations to Quilts of Valor Foundation would be
greatly appreciated.
