Barbara L. (Allison)
Semple, 91 passed away May 23, 2026.
She was born in Peoria IL. August 2, 1934. Daughter
to Henry Allison and Catherine (Adams) (Allison)
Aldag. Barbara graduated from New Holland
-Middletown High School class of 1952. She married
her High School sweetheart Donald E. Semple on
August 16, 1953. She was preceded in death by her
parents, stepfather Henry Aldag and husband. She is
survived by her son Leland E. Semple and his wife
Becky A. (Paulus) Semple of Hartsburg IL. and
daughter Melinda K. Semple of Springfield IL. Her
sister Sharon K. (Allison) McCullough of Lincoln IL.
Four grandchildren Kara L. (Semple) Costello and her
companion Joseph Bisciglin, Scott D. Semple, Erin E.
(Semple) Abbott and her husband James Abbott, and
Mitchell E. Semple and his wife Jacey (Whiteside)
Semple. Four great-grandchildren Connor Costello,
Cale Costello, James Henry Abbott, and George Abbott
as well as many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was honest, hardworking, strong-willed and
always put others first. She spent her years farming
with her husband in the New Holland area. She
enjoyed roller skating and dancing throughout her
youth and was still dancing at the age of 90. She
loved sewing, gardening, and genealogy. She
harvested everything her garden produced and did not
let anything go to waste. She wrote the New Holland
News which was published in the Mason City paper.

Barbara had a lovely
singing voice and was a member in many organizations
including the United Methodist Church where she had
many solos. The Home Economic Association where she
held many positions on the board. Active member in
Women’s Club beginning in 1957, up until her death.
New Holland Centennial Secretary, Richmond Grove
Community Club, and Pinochle Club where she loved to
play cards. Barbara was a Cub and Brownie Scout
leader, in addition to a 4-H leader for 23 years.
She was a loving wife, mother, Grandmother, Great
Grandmother and friend that will be missed by all
who knew her.
Services for Barbara will be held at 11:00am on
Friday, May 29, 2026, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL. Visitation will take
place two hours prior to the service from
9:00am-11:00am also at the funeral home. Burial will
follow the services at Richmond Grove Cemetery in
New Holland, IL. Memorial donations may be made in
her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
