[June 15, 2026]  MT. PULASKI - Betty J. Lyon, 89, of Mt. Pulaski, IL., passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.

Visitation:  Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 9 - 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski.

Service:  Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the church. Funeral home: Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Mt. Pulaski

Obituary

Betty J. Lyon, 89, of Mt. Pulaski, IL., passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.

Betty was born on July 28, 1936, in Kinmundy, IL., the daughter of Martin and Ella (Bergmann) Rubin. She married Paul Lyon on August 1, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1998.

Betty is survived by her children: Diane Hagan, Debra Lyon, Dana Garcia, and Doug (Carla) Lyon; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; sister: Shirley Fairbanks; sister-in-law: Wanda Rubin; and her longtime friend Gladys Letterle.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Paul; two son in-laws: Lynn Hagan and Art Garcia; 3 brothers: Lavern Rubin, Floyd Rubin, and Leroy Rubin; great-granddaughter: Hazel; and longtime companion Orville Bandelow.

 

Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Mt Pulaski. She worked at Lehn and Fink for 32 years before retiring in 1996. Betty enjoyed spending time with family, going camping, going out to eat and visiting Country Music Opry’s with Orville.

Funeral Services for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski. Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to the service (9:00 to 11:00 a.m.) also at the church. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Betty’s memory to Zion Lutheran Church of Mt. Pulaski or Vonderlieth Living Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski.
