Obituary
Debra I. Maus, 76, of
Chestnut, IL, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026,
at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Debra was born April 13, 1950, in Lincoln, IL, the
daughter of Willard and Marie Louise (DeMaertelaere)
Remmert. She married Walter Maus on June 16, 1968,
in Mt. Pulaski.
Debra is survived by her husband, Walter; three
children, Randall (Lynne) Maus, Michael (Theresa)
Maus, and Heather (Eric) Juricka; her grandchildren:
Haley, Emily, Justin, and Addison; her great
granddaughter, Tinley; and siblings, Leonard (Rita)
Remmert and Linda (Robert) Faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a
granddaughter, Alex.
Debra was a professional seamstress and loved to
make historical clothing. She loved history,
specifically she was fond of learning about the 18th
century, and pre-civil war times. In her free time,
she and Walter would participate in historical
re-enactments. |
Debra was also a
member of Mt. Pulaski Christian Church. She also has
a deep love for her cats, watching her team: the
Chicago Blackhawks, and enjoyed sewing. Most of all,
she loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services for
Debra will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 1,
2026, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt.
Pulaski. Visitation will take place two hours prior,
from 9:00 - 11:00 am, also at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at Laenna Cemetery in
Chestnut. Memorials may be made in Debra’s name to
Memorial Hospice Care.
