[June 30, 2026]  LINCOLN - John Henry “Jack” Peifer, 88, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation:  Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln.

Service:  Thursday, July 2, 2026,A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Obituary

John Henry “Jack” Peifer, 88, of Lincoln, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Jack was born on July 22, 1937, in Lincoln, the son of Henry and Helen (Buckstegge) Peifer. He married Margaret Conner on February 16, 1998, in Lincoln. They shared twenty-one wonderful years of marriage together after finding each other when they were both in their 60’s. She preceded him in death in 2019.

He is survived by his cousins, Stephen (Margo) Peifer, Tom (Patty) Peifer, Carol Ann (Jim) Methvin, Maggie (Bob) Knol, Jane (Skip) Junkerman, Joe (Lois) Morrow, Mary (Jim Runyon) Peifer, Bob (Michelle) Peifer, Greg (Peggy) Morrow, Tim (Michelle) Peifer, and Angie Peifer.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his cousins, Jim Peifer and Ann Mosier.

Jack served in the Army Reserves from 1959-1965. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th degree member, and Logan County Farm Bureau.
 

Jack was a fourth-generation farmer in Logan County, whose family has been farming for over one hundred years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln. A rosary service will be held at Holy Family at 9:00 am. Visitation will follow the rosary from 9:30 - 10:30 am, also at the church. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln following the mass. Memorials may be made in Jack’s name to Carroll Catholic School.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
