Obituary
Gregg Wallner, 78, of
Lincoln, formerly of Atlanta, passed away at
Springfield Memorial Hospital on Monday, June 29,
2026.
Graveside Services for Gregg will be held on
Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Atlanta Cemetery at
12:00 p.m. with Mr. Tony Billingsley officiating.
Gregg Wallner was born May 20, 1948, in Springfield,
the son of O. Fred and Lorretta M. Jenkins Wallner.
He was united in marriage to Ellen McIntosh on
December 14, 1991. She preceded Gregg in death on
June 29, 2002.
Gregg is survived by five children: Gina Barnes,
Shawna (David) Fleshman, Cheryl (Charles) Horath,
Joshua Aikman, and James (Kellie) Aikman; eleven
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two
sisters: Trudy (Richard) Theel and Loretta (Gene)
Dodd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one
brother, Ronald Wallner, and one sister, Marla
Shipp.
Gregg was a 1966 graduate of Girard High School.
Over the years he had worked as an OTR Driver, and
in construction and maintenance for HomeWay Homes. |

He found joy in the
simple things in life – tending his garden, reading
a good book, and watching classic Westerns. A gifted
craftsman, he loved working with leather and
woodworking of every kind. He also enjoyed shooting
sports and was always open to new hobbies and
adventures. His curiosity, skill, and appreciation
for traditional pastimes brought happiness to those
who knew him.
Memorials may be made to the Sportsman’s Club in
Lincoln.
