Obituary
Janice Marie Danley
Rock, 88, formerly of Lincoln, Illinois, entered the
presence of her Lord on July 28, 2026, surrounded by
her loving family.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 8, from
9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Southern Baptist
Church in Lincoln, Illinois. Funeral services will
follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Richmond Grove
Cemetery in New Holland.
Janice was born December 10, 1937, in Lincoln,
Illinois, the daughter of Creede Hickman and Alberta
Marie (Sparks) Danley. Janice was a woman of deep
faith who found comfort and purpose throughout her
life through her relationship with God.
Janice graduated from New Holland-Middletown High
School in June 1956 and married Thomas Ray Rock on
June 30, 1956, at New Holland Methodist Church. He
preceded Janice in death on April 18, 2015. She was
also preceded in death by her parents and her
brothers, Bill, Bob, and Dick Danley.
After her marriage to Tom, they built a life
centered on family, faith, friendship, and service
to their church and community. During their years
together in Lincoln, they were active members of
State Street Baptist Church and later became charter
members of Lincoln Southern Baptist Church. They
also labored side by side for decades in their
upholstery and plumbing businesses before Tom's
retirement. Janice later concluded her career with
the Illinois Department of Transportation several
years after Tom retired.
Whether tending her garden, preparing a meal, or
opening her home to family and friends, Janice found
joy in caring for others. She also enjoyed reading,
sewing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with
those she loved. |

After living more than
57 years on South Kickapoo Street in Lincoln and
following the death of her beloved husband, Janice
chose to spend her remaining years living with her
children, who mourn her passing: Gilberta (Jim)
Allen, Deborah (Danny) Neuman, Valerie (Mark)
Barton, and Alan (Shelley) Rock.
Janice is also
survived by her loving grandchildren: Ryan Allen
(Blair Perry), Rachael (Hillary) Larman, Kaitlyn
Barton (Evit John), Elles (Daniel) Maddry, Addison
(Zoe) Barton, and Mary Claire (Austin) Elgin;
great-grandchildren Gable and Torin Elgin, Marigold
Barton, and Wes Maddry; and her 5th great-grandchild
expected to Rachael & Hillary Larman. She is also
survived by numerous sisters-in-law, cousins,
nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Janice will be remembered for her steadfast faith,
gentle spirit, quiet strength, and the unconditional
love she shared with her family. Her greatest joy
was watching her children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren grow, and the values she lived
by will continue to be reflected in each of their
lives. She now rests in the presence of the Savior
she faithfully served and is joyfully reunited with
her beloved husband, Tom, whom she deeply missed.
Memorial donations may be made to Lincoln Southern
Baptist Church, Gideons International, Wounded
Warrior Project, and/or Pax Hospice (Brandon,
Mississippi), in honor of Janice, whose life
reflected the values these organizations represent.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter
into the joy of your Lord."
