James F. Defebaugh, 83, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, as he went to be with his Lord and Savior.

Jim was born on July 6, 1942. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim is survived by his cherished wife of 59 years Betty, sisters Leona and Avis, his children: James E. Defebaugh of Jasper, GA, Julie (Mark) Rogers of St. Louis, MO., Jason (Gina) Defebaugh of Lincoln, IL and Jenifer (Dan) Leevey of Forsyth, IL; grandchildren: Taelor (Nolan) Rynearson, Alex (Kayla) Rogers, Destiny (Travis) Barnes, Morgan (Patrick) Hoban, Rylee Defebaugh, Jaron Defebaugh, Brently Defebaugh, Emma Leevey, Samantha Rogers, Jillian Defebaugh; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother, Florence; father, Harold; and siblings Edith, Richard, Bob and Jerry.

Jim, an avid gardener, had a passion for growing vegetables and sharing his harvest with friends and family. He was a fan of many sports, with the Chicago Cubs and the Illinois Fighting Illini being his favorites. His many hobbies include fishing, woodworking, and playing games with his family and friends.

Jim never met a stranger and always looked for (and found) the best in everyone. He will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at the Clinton Church of Christ on October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clinton Church of Christ.
