Obituary
Richard Eugene
Casad, 82, of Lincoln, Illinois, passed away on
October 22, 2026, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born on October 16, 1944, in Riverside,
California, the son of Eugene Woodford Casad and
Mary “Missy” (DePuy) Casad. He attended Champaign
Central High School and was raised in the Methodist
faith.
For nearly four decades, Richard was a familiar and
beloved presence at the movie theater in Lincoln.
More than just a theater manager, he became a
fixture of the theater itself and part of the
memories of generations of moviegoers. Known for his
wonderful sense of humor and gift for storytelling,
Richard always had a story to share or a reason to
make someone laugh. The theater was much more than a
job to him; it was a place he truly loved, where he
formed countless friendships and lasting memories.
Throughout his life, Richard also worked as a
produce manager and later as a beloved greeter at
Walmart, where his welcoming personality left a
lasting impression on those he met.
Richard had a lifelong passion for motorcycles,
enjoying motorcycle racing, motocross, and the
freedom of the open road. One of his favorite
destinations was the famous Tail of the Dragon along
the Tennessee–North Carolina border. He also enjoyed
watching football, going to the movies, and sharing
stories and laughter with friends.

Richard will be remembered for his humor,
kindness, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. Whether he was
greeting familiar faces at the theater, riding his motorcycle around town, or
fixing bicycles for neighborhood kids, he had a way of making an impression on
those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and
the community that knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his children, Todd (Susan) Casad, Stasi Casad, and
Jennifer Casad (Kali Sacharski); five grandchildren; and his longtime companion,
Rebecca Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Woodford Casad and Mary “Missy”
(DePuy) Casad; and his paternal grandparents, William and Bessie Casad.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A
memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to ABATE of Illinois or the Humane Society of
Logan County.
