Obituary

Weslee Umphryes, 38, of Washington, Illinois passed away Monday, October 19, 2026 in Washington.

He was born October 15, 1988 in Monterey, California to Vern and Lana (Rosecrans) Umphryes. He married Kelsey Reissig in Peoria, Illinois on September 30, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kelsey Umphryes, and his parents, Vern (Sherilyn) Umphryes and Lana Michael. Weslee leaves behind his sister, Tiffany Winebrinner, with her children Reece and Izzak, and his brother, Skyler (Jayna) Umphryes, with their daughter Vera. He will also be deeply missed by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Cynthia Reissig; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lauren and Daniel Crittenden, along with their daughters, Hannah and Kaylee; as well as a large circle of extended family, close friends, and loved ones.

Weslee worked at CEFCU in Peoria as an IT manager of Telecom and Desktop Solutions.

Weslee was a lifelong learner whose curiosity and dedication led him to become the first in his family to graduate from college. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Illinois State University, an accomplishment that reflected his commitment to education and his passion for understanding the world around him.

In love, the stars aligned when Weslee met his soulmate, Kelsey. Together, they shared seven years of love and companionship before marrying on September 30, 2023. Their journey together was a meaningful chapter in Weslee's life, filled with the love and connection they shared. They enjoyed being outdoors where Weslee could photograph his surroundings, his favorite subject matter was always Kelsey.

Weslee had a kind and loving heart that touched the lives of those around him. He was never one to judge others and was known for his patience, gentle nature, and thoughtful approach to life. He loved animals, valued knowledge, and believed in doing his research before making any decision. His curiosity, quick wit, unique sense of style, and beautiful laugh made him unforgettable.

He had a wonderful closeness to Reece and Izzak, showing them how to be compassionate to animals, bonding over Pokémon cards and teaching them a thing or two over a fierce game of cards against humanity.

Weslee will be deeply missed by his family, his soulmate, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His warmth, humor, intelligence, and gentle spirit made the world a better place, and the memories he created will forever be treasured by those who love him.

To know Weslee was truly a privilege. Though his time on this earth was far too short, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.

Gone from our sight, but not our memories.

Gone from our touch, but never our hearts.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29 from 4 to 7pm at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
