Obituary

Kyle Marie (Dale) Wright "Nana", 62, of Lincoln, traveled to her eternal life surrounded by her family on October 25, 2026, at Sullivan Health Care. Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held soon.

Kyle was born July 12, 1964, in Lincoln, IL., the daughter of Darleen Rose (Swan) and Glenn Robert Dale. She was a 1982 graduate of Hartsburg-Emden High School. Back in her early days, you could find her at all the best rock ‘n roll concerts and going on adventures with her sisters and many friends (oh the stories she told!). She enjoyed writing beautiful stories and poetry while still in school. Kyle was employed at Eaton/Cutler Hammer from 1987-2017 where many co-workers became close friends and some like family. She enjoyed swimming in the summertime, camping at the lake with her family and friends, and dancing in the kitchen with her grandbabies. She was happy to play alongside her grandkids at any playground or park. They had fun when Nana was the “lava monster” in their own little made-up game. Kyle always made the holidays special; it wasn’t a family gathering without her chicken and noodles. She was soft-hearted and affectionately known as "aunt cry cry" when she cried tears of joy holding babies and being in the presence of loved ones. She loved hunting for treasures at thrift stores and collecting gravy boats. She enjoyed Steak N’ Shake dates with her daughter and grandson, and cheeseburgers and chocolate shakes with her sisters and swinging on the front porch. Kyle had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, who seemed to find their way into her life whenever they needed a loving heart and a place to call home. One very special kitty, however, was more than just a pet. Evy Lou was her best friend, who was always there to offer cuddles and unconditional love. Kyle was a selfless person. She always had a smile on her face and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was loved dearly and will be deeply missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her sweet soul.

Survivors include her children: Luke (Meagan) Wright and Kristin Wright; 4 grandchildren: Evan Richardson, Ethan Johnston, Avery Johnston, and Nova Marie Wright; 2 sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Her children and grandbabies were the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and her beloved kitty, Evelynn Louella (Evy Lou).

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Logan County.

Throughout Kyle’s long and hard-fought journey, she was surrounded by people who gave their time, love, and compassion to help care for her. Thank you to the nurses, CNAs, and caregivers who brought comfort to Kyle. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.

If Kyle could leave you with one last reminder of her, it would be to think of her with the sweet scent of lilacs in the spring, a butterfly dancing by, and when an AC/DC song comes on, turn it up loud and think of her! May these little reminders bring smiles though the tears and remind you of a woman whose love, laughter and spirit will never fade away.

Kyle had a natural gift for writing and a way of expressing herself through poetry from a young age. At just 17 years old, one of her many poems was accepted for publication through the Society of American Poets. In remembrance of her beautiful spirit and the words she left behind, we are honored to share a small piece of her heart through the following poem:

God’s Great Gift

I’m writing a poem,
And I’m not sure what it will be,

Just wait to find out and you will see.

The grass is so green and so are the trees,

Everything is changing colors; including the leaves,

The Heavens are high for those who believe,

We’re waiting for our other life,

That we will soon receive,

That great life is:

God’s gift of eternity! -Kyle Marie
