Obituary

Virgil Raye Lowe, 77, of Lincoln, Illinois, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 10, 2025, surrounded by his wife and loving family.

Virgil was born on October 3, 1948, in Lincoln, Illinois, to William Edwin Lowe and Dorismae Stolz. On March 11, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Kathleen Masterson. Together they built a loving home and beautiful memories with their big family.

An entrepreneur at heart, Virgil owned and operated a number of businesses throughout his life, including Lighthouse Christian Bookstore, several Hallmark Stores, and an Apple Computer and copier dealership, just to name a few. In his later career, he brought that same drive and commitment to serve others as a private wealth advisor with Ameriprise Financial.

Above all else, his most cherished relationship was with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and he was always eager to share that faith with others. Family meant everything to him; if his family was there, he was there. Known for his generosity, kindness, sense of humor, and fearless spirit, Virgil loved to make memories, whether it was water skiing, snow skiing, or simply enjoying a trip with his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; children Katie (Jeff) Hoinacki, Amie (Brent) Kenney, Troy (Jantina) Lowe, Jennifer Prather, Travis (Grace) Lowe, and Emilie (Ethan) Tapscott; grandchildren Ethan (Nicole) Hoinacki, Kallie (Chris) Slaby, Noah (Kate) Kenney, Zachariah Lowe-Prather, Taylor Hoinacki, Isaiah Lowe-Prather, Meghan Kenney, Moriah Lowe-Prather, Isabella Lowe-Prather, Maxton Kenney, and Ellia Lowe-Prather; great-grandchildren Sadie Hoinacki, Oliver Hoinacki, Emmalyn Hoinacki, Calvin Slaby, and Lillian Slaby; and his sister, Anna (Jack) Powel. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Molly Lowe; his parents; and his siblings William Frederick Lowe, Thomas Lowe, and Mary Stark.

The family will honor his life privately. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center in Lincoln and His Hands Outreach in Lincoln.
