Bridge Repair near New Holland

[March 11, 2026]  Beginning on, or about, March 12th, repairs will be made to a bridge between New Holland and San Jose. The bridge carries 100th Avenue Prairie Creek and is located about 3 miles north of IL Route 10. The road will be closed to traffic for several days while repairs are made.

The existing bridge is 90 feet long and was built in 1961. The bridge was constructed with a concrete deck on timber pilings which was a common practice at the time. One of those timber pilings has rotted and is in poor condition. The bridge currently has a weight limit of 32 Ton. Repairs will be made so that the existing bridge can continue to safely carry traffic.

Cooperation and patience are always appreciated during the construction season as we continue to improve the safety of our roads and bridges. Status of our local construction projects can be found on the News & Closures page of the County Highway Department website.
