Area lawmakers partner with HSHS St. John’s Foundation for “Comfort for Kids Drive”

[March 21, 2026]  Springfield, IL— State Senators Sally Turner (R-Beason) and Steve McClure (R-Springfield) are partnering with HSHS St. John’s Foundation to collect donations for the “Comfort for Kids Drive,” an initiative aimed at bringing comfort to children receiving care at HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital.

From now through April 3, community members are encouraged to donate new stuffed animals and blankets, which will be given to children recovering from serious illnesses or injuries.

A collection box has been set up in Senator Turner’s Capitol office area for donations.

“During difficult moments, even a small gesture can make a big difference for a child,” said Senator Sally Turner. “This drive is a simple, heartfelt way for our community to come together and bring comfort, warmth, and a sense of security to kids who need it most.”

“It is heartbreaking to see young children have to deal with serious illnesses and injuries,” said Senator Steve McClure. “Please help us to provide a little boost of happiness and positive energy to these brave children as they recover.”

The Comfort for Kids Drive is organized through HSHS St. John’s Foundation and supports children receiving treatment by providing comforting items during their hospital stay.
