Mt. Pulaski Fall Festival - 5th
Annual Kids Color Run
[September 15, 2025]
The weekend of September 13th
and 14th was the Mt. Pulaski Fall Festival. While the festival was
held for the days leading up to that weekend, Saturday the 13th was
the main day. This day had more events planned than any other day of
the festival. These events started as early as 7:00 a.m. and ran as
late as 11:00 p.m. The events of the day were all held on the
Square. Hundreds of people turned out, even though the weather was
sunny and 93 degrees Fahrenheit.
It was still cool in the morning, however, when the 5th annual kids
color run was hosted. Unlike last year, where the kids ran around an
entire block, this year the kids ran down W. Cooke Street, starting
at the corner of that street and S. Washington Street. The kids were
instructed to run down to a red truck that was parked in the street
in such a way as to block traffic. They would then run back to the
starting line the same way they came.

The kids were divided into two
groups, with the first group running being for kids in Kindergarten
and 1st grade. The second group was for kids in 2nd grade and up.
Besides the kids’ ages, the other main difference was how much they
were told to run, with the younger kids going down and back once
while the older kids were told to do so twice.

The kids were all lined up and
counted down. Once they were told to, the kids started running past
several volunteers, each holding a bottle of color powder. As the
kids ran by, the volunteers sprayed the kids with the powder,
leaving different colored marks on their shirts and pants, on their
skin, and in their hair. The kids loved it, with smiles painted on
their faces.
