Atlanta hosts cruise-in over
Memorial Day weekend

Saturday, May 23, Atlanta was
full of people there for activities that included a car cruise in,
music, vendors, food, raffles and face painting.
Midway 154 teamed up with the American Giants Museum for the car
cruise in. The cruise in started with 58 entries and eventually had
76 cars.
Among the vehicles on SW Arch
Street were several Corvettes and other sports cars, an old Ford
police car, a 1970 El Camino, a 1959 MGA, a 1957 Chevy truck and a
1976 Stingray.

Street, vehicles included a 1971 Plymouth GTX, an antique Chevrolet
Apache truck, a 1973 Gran Torino Sport, a 1968 Electra 2.5, a 1957
Ford Fairlane, a 1970 Ford Mustang, and a 1946 Plymouth Coupe.

vehicles. For instance, Jim and Diane Loeffler of Lincoln own a 1959
Edsel Convertible, a 1959 Fairlane Convertible, a 1962 Chrysler New
Yorker, a 1959 Cushman Scooter plus the 1927 red Ford Roadster they
brought to the car show. The Roadster was custom built by someone
else, but the Loefflers have had it since 2012. It has a 1949 Ford
flathead motor and three Stromburg 97 carburetors.
Tim Morgan of Lincoln brought the
1929 black Pontiac Coupe he got four years ago. Morgan took off the
wood spoke wheels, drive train and running board and replaced them,
but the vehicle still has the original radiator and gas tank. He
added an automatic transmission from a Mustang.
Bill Kiesling of nearby Heyworth
brought his 1973 Gold Glow Gran Torino. Parts modified include the
engine, pistons, valves, cams, headers and wheels. The transmission
was built in 2009 with a 1970 wide ratio toploader.

John and Elaine Hoose of Clinton
drove their 1957 Starnet blue Thunderbird, which they have had for
37 years and completely restored. As part of the International
Thunderbird Club, the couple showed car all over including Chicago,
Kansas City, Indianapolis and Parsippany, New Jersey. Now, they
mainly go to cruise nights at Bloomington’s David Davis Mansion.
Vendors in the park included Bad Bully Creations LLC with their DTF
shirts, Paparazzi Jewelry, Katy’s Crafts and Crochet, Kathy’s Custom
Crochet and homemade wren houses.
The face painting area was popular with kids, who had a variety of
designs to choose from.
Under a tent, Rob Polen grilled
pork chops and ribeyes all afternoon as people lined up to get
sandwiches, drinks and chips.
Musical entertainment was by the
BloNo Boogie Band, who played and sang classic rock and blues
throughout the day,
It was a nice weekend for families to be out enjoying the activities
in Atlanta.
