Downtown Lincoln Business Group
holds March meeting
[March 11, 2026]
With summer events coming soon, the
Downtown Lincoln Business Group discussed upcoming third Fridays.
Smalltown Creation’s owner Kathie Williams said this year’s Third
Friday dates will be May 15, June 19 and July 17. In June, the theme
will be Nashville Nights, with some of the downtown bars and
restaurants hosting bands. The themes for May and July are yet to be
announced.
Last year’s Nashville Nights had at least six bands playing
downtown. Sponsors are being sought for the event including two main
sponsors at the $1000 level, two rock star sponsors at the $750
level and sponsors for the opening act at the $250 level.
During Third Fridays the streets around the square, except by the
post office, will be closed. The activities will be held from
Broadway Street to Pulaski Street and Chicago Street.
During Balloons Over weekend (August 28 and 29), the Balloons over
66 group and the City of Lincoln will host two bands. Lick Creek
will be playing Friday and on Saturday the popular Captain Geech and
the Shrimp Shack Shooters return. As with last year, a huge downtown
crowd is expected.

Lincoln Tourism
Director Scott McCoy and others are working on setting up the
Route 66 Museum on Broadway Street. McCoy hopes to open the
museum sometime in May.
With this year being America’s 250th anniversary, there is a
possibility of a downtown parade on July 4.
There will be three more retail therapy events this year on July
18, September 26 and December 6. The September theme is fall In
Love with Lincoln. In December, at each participating store, if
you make a purchase, you will receive a free wrapped gift.
