ECVI receives grant to expand
programs in Lincoln
[February 26, 2026]
Lincoln, IL – The Educational
Center for the Visually Impaired (ECVI) is pleased to announce that
it has received new grant funding from the St. Joseph’s Home Legacy
of Care Fund to support program expansion in Lincoln. This award
enables ECVI to deliver our programs to the Lincoln community:
Cooking with Confidence, Health & Wellness, Daily Living Skills,
Building Connections and two social groups such as Marvelous Mondays
and Faith & Friendships. All of our programs are held at The Oasis
Senior Center in Lincoln, Illinois.
The St. Joseph's Home Legacy of Care Fund is a $5.6 million
endowment administered by the Community Foundation for the Land of
Lincoln. It provides grants to support senior services (age 55+) in
central Illinois. This endowment was created to carry on the mission
of the former St. Joseph's Home in Springfield, IL, focusing on
caring for the elderly.
Presently, all three ECVI locations – Springfield, Decatur and
Lincoln – now offer the organization’s full range of services and
programs. This milestone ensures that individuals with visual
impairments across central Illinois have consistent access to
training, community and resources that promote independence and
confidence.
