Lady Railers defeat St. Anthony 53-40

[November 29, 2025]  The Lady Railers Varsity basketball team defeated Effingham St. Anthony 53-40 on Friday night in the 2025 Pana Turkey Tournament.

The win put the Lady Railers in the championship game with Breese Mater Dei but due to the weather forecast for today that game is being rescheduled.

First quarter
The Lady Railers got off to a terrific start Friday night against the St. Anthony Bulldogs. After Mia Clark’s opening bucket, the team caught fire from three-point range. Mesa McCloud and Grey Gilbert hit back-to-back 3s to put Lincoln up 8-2. McCloud and Clark then sank consecutive 3s that stretched the lead to 14-3. Grace Bivin got in on the action with a putback and before the quarter ended Bivin pulled down another rebound and dished it off to Clark, who made a short jumper this time. Lincoln was on top 18-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Second quarter
Clark and McCloud each made a three here and with Lily Holmes stopping and popping the short jumper and Bivin banking one in, the Lincoln girls climbed to a 29-10 lead at the half.

Third quarter
Mia and Mesa kept the net burning in the third quarter. Clark tossed in two more 3s while McCloud connected for one. With a few free throws placed here and there in the quarter, the Lincoln lead was a solid 40-23.

Fourth quarter
McCloud dropped in two more 3s in the final quarter, bringing her total to six in the game. Lily Holmes added a steal and a couple more baskets to keep Lincoln’s double-digit lead. Clark and Paisley Holmes finished Lincoln’s scoring at the free throw line.

Thanks to great ball handling, great defense and some really great shots in the game, the Lady Railers cruised to a 53-40 win over the Bulldogs.
