Free program helps residents prepare for employment opportunities

[August 21, 2026]  LINCOLN, IL – Lincoln Economic Advancement & Development, Inc. (LEAD), in collaboration with local partners Heartland Community College and Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois (CAPCIL), is bringing back the Everyday Professional Skills Workshop Series, a free program designed to help individuals strengthen their professional skills and prepare for meaningful employment.

The Everyday Professional Skills Workshop Series begins Wednesday, September 9, 2026, and will run on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Hope on 5th, 200 5th Street, Lincoln. Dinner will be provided before each session. The series will conclude with a graduation ceremony on Wednesday, September 30.

This free, interactive series includes six workshops focused on essential workplace skills, confidence-building, and job readiness. Participants who complete the program will receive:

•A certificate of completion to add to their resume

•A professional headshot

•A new outfit for interviews

•The opportunity to network with potential employers
