Press release on May 24 armed/barricaded subject

[May 28, 2026]  On May 24, 2026, at approximately 5:39pm, Lincoln Police responded to Lincoln Memorial Hospital in reference to a reported domestic battery. The investigation led officers to 710 South Kickapoo Street, Lincoln, Illinois.
Officers were able to make telephone contact with the suspect, Joshua L. Quisenberry (date of birth: 04-15-87), who was reported to have been armed with a firearm. Lincoln Police, Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Illinois State Police evacuated nearby residences and began negotiating with Quisenberry.

After several hours of negotiating, and Quisenberry failing to surrender to law enforcement, a K9 unit was deployed. Quisenberry was eventually placed under arrest and held at the Logan County Jail. Quisenberry was subsequently charged with five felony offenses: two counts of domestic battery, one count of possession of firearm without a FOID card, and two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon.

On May 27, 2026, Quisenberry appeared in court for the first time and it was determined that he will remain in custody; however, pursuant to Illinois law, his custodial status will be reviewed at every subsequent court
appearance. The charges against Quisenberry are merely allegations, and Quisenberry is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Participating Agencies include: Lincoln Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police Troop 6 – Division of Patrol, Illinois State Police – SWAT, Lincoln Fire Department, and Logan County Paramedics Association.
