Mt. Pulaski, American Water planned water main installation

[March 23, 2026]  This is an important notification from Illinois American Water. Our contractors are installing water main in Mount Pulaski on Vine Street as part of a planned project. The new main will be tested before service is transferred from the old main to the new main. Weather Permitting, the testing will start on March 23, 2026, at 8 am and be completed by approximately March 25th at 3pm. Motorists should slow down and follow all signage when crews are working. Intermittent roadway closures may be needed so the work can be completed safely. Measures are being taken to minimize impact to customers. However, during the testing period, you may notice a slight drop in pressure or discolored water for a short amount of time. If possible, avoid using tap water, especially for laundry. If you experience discolored water, run cold water from your tap for a few minutes until the water clears. Do not use hot water if you experience any discoloration as it can cause sediment to be pulled into your hot water heater. If water discoloration or pressure problems persist, contact Illinois American Water at 800-422-2782.
