Operation Honor Guard announces
Day of Giving on Wednesday, May 6, to support military funeral
honors
[April 25, 2026]
Lincoln, IL — Operation Honor
Guard (OHG) will partner with Fricke-Calvert-Schrader to host its
annual Day of Giving on May 6, 2026, a nationwide effort to raise
critical funds and awareness in support of the men and women who
ensure every veteran receives proper military honors at their
funeral. This year, Central Illinois communities will have the
opportunity to take part in person through designated collection

An Effort to Preserve Honor and Tradition
Each day across the United States, thousands of veterans are laid to
rest—yet many volunteer honor guards face ongoing challenges,
including limited funding, aging equipment, and a decline in
available members. Operation Honor Guard exists to bridge that gap,
providing essential resources, financial support, and national
awareness to sustain and strengthen these vital ceremonial teams.
“Military funeral honors are more than tradition—they are a final
act of gratitude on behalf of a nation,” said Rich Darby, Founder of
Operation Honor Guard. “Our Day of Giving is an opportunity for
individuals, businesses, and communities to come together to ensure
that no veteran is laid to rest without the dignity and recognition
they deserve.”
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Public Relations Director, Chad Sparks,
said, “As a fourth generation, family-owned business,
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader prioritizes family, community, and country,
and it is the Calvert family’s honor to assist our local Honor
Guards throughout the communities that we serve in a dedicated
effort to raise funds and awareness for their ongoing mission and
ultimate sacrifice.”
