Lincoln Police Department
Fatal accident, North Logan Street and Peoria Street Lincoln,
Illinois
[May 23, 2026]
On Thursday, May 215T, 2026 at
approximately 9:38pm, Lincoln Police responded to a traffic crash at
the intersection of North Logan Street and Peoria Street involving
two vehicles. Officers observed a Lincoln MKX to have severe
front-end damage and a Chrysler minivan that had severe rear-end
damage. Preliminary investigation indicates that the Lincoln MKX
collided with the Chrysler minivan.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and provided medical
assistance. A passenger of the Chrysler minivan, identified as
66-year old Christine Shaub, was transported to Lincoln Memorial
Hospital and pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Two other
occupants of the Chrysler minivan refused treatment at the scene.

The driver of the
Lincoln MKX was identified as Shaun M. Cook (date of birth:
02/26/88). Cook had been transported to Lincoln Memorial
Hospital and then Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Upon
being medically released and cleared, Cook was placed under
arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail where he was
booked on the charge of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence.
The charges against Cook are merely allegations, and Cook is
presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
