2025 Logan County Primary Election
Candidates invited to submit letters to Lincoln Daily News

[January 05, 2025]  The Logan County Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. There are currently three seats in the city government in Lincoln that will be contested races in the primary.

For the office of Mayor, three candidates are competing to have their name on the general election ballot in April on the Republican ticket. There are also two candidates each for alderman Ward 3 and Ward 4.

Running for the mayoral nomination will be incumbent Mayor Tracy Welch, Mr. Craig Eimer (currently Ward 4 Alderman) and Beth Davis-Kavelman.

Running for the nomination in Ward 3 will be incumbent Wanda Lee Rohlfs and Dennis L. Clemons Sr.

Running for the Ward 4 nomination will be incumbent Rhonda O’Donoghue and Verl A. Prather

Any and all candidates whose name will appear on the 2025 primary election ballon are invited and encouraged to submit letters to Lincoln Daily News.

Candidate statements may (if desired) include personal history or short biography including family relationships, career choices, etc.

Statements could also include positions on critical issues in the community, summary statements on what the candidate feels they can contribute to the office, and why the candidate has chosen to run at this time.

Letters from the candidates may NOT include back-stabbing or slandering of fellow candidates and/or anyone else currently holding public office.

Letters may not include obscenities or slurs meant to insult any public office, or persons in the community.

PLEASE NOTE: A candidate can say how they would make the office better without making derogatory remarks about the persons currently holding office.

Lincoln Daily News also accepts letters of support for candidates from constituents.

Again, letters should be focused on the merits of the candidate being supported, and may not include negative comments about anyone currently holding office.

All letters should be submitted in a Word Doc format or copied and pasted into the body of the email. One photo may also accompany the candidate letter and should be submitted in jpeg format as large as possible.

All letters should include the name of the submitter along with an email address and phone number.

Because this is an election, NO letters will be published with the author name withheld. However, contact information will not be published.
