Letter to the Editor:
“Where they Stand” is an excellent title that allows citizens to
provide communication with the public for items which are valuable
to the community. This is not something I pondered but something
that came to me this Sunday morning.
On April 1, 2025, (or before), citizens will be given a choice at
the voting booth. There are two individuals that are campaigning for
the same political position, and I have worked with both of them.
They are two totally different personalities and individuals. Only
one of them would I choose to work with again.
When it comes to politics, we know there are many variables but
having been part of that world, there are traits that I would look
for in a candidate that would represent me as a citizen. Steve
Parrott demonstrates those traits. It is my opinion that he knows
the difference between right and wrong and chooses what is right for
the citizens.
Trust is a big part of politics or at least it should be. In making
decisions people may not always agree but it is easier to accept
opposing views when you know that both options are in the best
interest of the citizens. Steve and I worked on salary schedules
together, I had a different idea but trusted his ideas and his
option.
Commitment is another quality that is important to consider. During
the years that Steve has served as an alderman, he has demonstrated
that, although he works out of town, he is at the meetings and has
knowledge pertinent to the issues at hand. Yes, he sometimes votes
based on his convictions, but is that a bad thing? We need all sides
of the story before we vote. Most people vote based on their
conscience anyway. [to top of second
column] |

As a team player, he is respectful and
collaborative, while still maintaining his own assessment of the
situation at hand. It was my hope that he would have had the chance
to be Mayor pro tem during his years on Council.
During my years on council, it was my desire to do what is in the
best interest of the citizens. I believe that Steve Parrott also has
the same desire. As I evaluate the upcoming years, my hope is that
the citizens weigh heavily on who will represent them at City Hall
most effectively and fairly.
Please make time to get out and VOTE. Vote for a true Republican.
